Visit to Annesley Williams leaves Dubs’ star ‘Philly’ impressed with all-new Skoda Kodiaq
THE all-new Skoda Kodiaq is causing quite a stir and its mid-March launch is eagerly awaited by fans of the iconic brand who have long been campaigning for an SUV from the company who gave us the Fabia, Octavia, Superb, Yeti and others.
On display at Annesley Williams Skoda on the Old Airport Road from February 2nd to 6th, the Kodiaq certainly seems to be living up to expectations.
Dublin GAA star Philip ‘Philly’ McMahon visited the showrooms on Thursday and was clearly very enthusiastic about the new model. ‘It’s everything I expected’, he said ‘I love the look of it and I can’t wait to try it out in March. It’s a serious contendor!
‘It’s got great style and is really comfortable and spacious. I also like the colours available (I feel strangely drawn to the Blue) and the fact that there are so many options with the new vehicle!’
‘I can’t remember such anticipation about a new model’, adds Skoda Brand Manager Paul Connolly. ‘We knew a lot of our customers would drop in to see the display model but, to be honest we actually didn’t expect that so many would turn up. It’s been a busy few days.
‘This is a car with a lot to live up to and our customers certainly seem impressed. We expect this new Skoda to appeal to a huge customer base - Kodiaq will be available as a five or a seven-seater and, of course, will come with all the quality and choice our customers have become accustomed to.
‘There will be a selection of engine sizes and all with the innovative connectivity solutions Skoda customers expect.’
The Kodiaq’s official launch in March is now eagerly anticipated and staff at Annesley Williams Skoda are already preparing for what will surely be a very busy period for the dealership.
Now that's what I call a winning drive!
WHEN Drumree golfer Pat Martin, took part in a fundraising golf event at Baltray in June, little did he imagine that he'd be going home with a brand new Skoda but, thanks to sponsorship from Annesley Williams and the holeinoneclub.ie, that's exactly what happened.
The team event, run in aid of Don Bosco Care, proved a real winner for Martin. The magic happened at the 17th hole and it's fair to say that the veteran player is still stunned by his success. 'I couldn't actually believe it. I love the car! And the competition was for such a worthy cause'.
Don Bosco Care provides residential care and aftercare to young people who cannot live in the own homes. Chairman Tony McPoland was delighted with Pat's win - not only for Pat himself but for the opportunity it provides to spread the news about this worthy charity. 'This is the third year we've run the competition at Baltray and, as always, we were really well supported. The link-up with Annesley Williams and the holeinoneclub.ie certainly added to the excitement! It's so important to keep the fundraising going and a good news story like this only adds to the occasion.'
Annesley Williams Director, Cian Bennis, handing over the keys to Pat in the superb Cloghran showroom, expressed his delight in the venture which has seen the Skoda dealership team up with the holeinoneclub.ie on several occasions. 'I've been playing golf myself for many years', he says 'and I've never had a hole in one - much less get a free car for my efforts! It's a fantastic prize and I'm delighted that we've converted Pat into a Skoda fan!'
Established by Paul O'Loughlin in 2012, the holeinoneclub.ie provides all golfers in the country with the opportunity to win €1,500 when they match Pat's feat - and at a cost of just €1 per week! 'The link-up with Annesley Williams adds an extra boost to competitions such as this fundraiser for Don Boscoe Care' says O'Loughlin 'and we couldn't be more delighted with the result'!

Annesley Williams Donate Skoda Yeti To Support Vital Blood Bikes East Work
Blood Bikes East are delighted to announce the sponsorship of an Emergency Medical Vehicle by Annesley Williams Skoda.
The Skoda Yeti was presented to BBE on the 24/02/2016 by Annesley Williams MD, Cian Bennis, Paul Connolly (Skoda Sales Manager) and Pat O'Neill (Skoda Specialist).
Blood Bikes East had been seeking to acquire a 4-wheeled vehicle for some time. Motorbikes provide the most flexibility for getting around Dublin city and greater Leinster in most cases, however, on occasion hospitals may require a bulkier or more sensitive item to be transported, or the weather conditions may be too treacherous for a motorbike. In these scenarios a 4-wheeled vehicle will allow us to continue our vital work in supporting the hospitals and their patients across Leinster. The problem for a small charity like ours is that we do not have the funds to purchase such a vehicle and so we rely on the generosity of corporate sponsors.
Brendan Conroy (BBE Committee Member) approached Annesley Williams Skoda in late 2015. Following a discussion that was centred around explaining the work BBE carries out. Annesley Williams expressed how delighted they would be to help and within 3 months a brand new 161 Skoda Yeti was provided completely free of charge on long-term lease to BBE.
"You always hope that a company will appreciate the work that a charity does and will want to help," said Brendan Conroy, BBE Committe Member. "However, if I am honest, I was surprised by how soon into the initial approach Annesley Williams seemed to not only understand the work we do, but embrace the idea so readily; after all we're talking about a significant sponsorship."
Cian Bennis, Annesley Williams MD added, "It is not often that a company like ours is able to help the public in such a direct and vital way. We are amazed by the work that Blood Bikes East does and simply could not pass up the opportunity to be involved."
Following the launch, Pat McCabe, Chairman for Blood Bikes East said, "We are so grateful to Annesley Williams for their generosity. It is not an exaggeration to say that lives will be saved because we have this vehicle in our fleet. No longer will we have to refuse calls when the weather becomes too dangerous for our motorbikes. No longer will hospitals have to call on expensive courier services when they require bulkier items transported. We hope the people of Dublin appreciate their generosity as much as we do."
The Skoda Yeti will go into operational service as of March 1st 2016. Look out for it, and give us a honk if you see it!
